The jenny-press is a platform for the artistic and scholarly interests of Jae Jennifer Rossman. I produce unique, limited edition, and open edition works on paper, as well as collaborative publications exploring and documenting the book arts.
The jenny-press brings together the time I spend in libraries & museums, my studio, and in nature. With training in painting, printmaking, drawing, and bookbinding, as well as degrees in history and library science, the jenny-press allows me to share my interdisciplinary pursuits.
I employ line and color to explore my environment and imagination and to investigate the worlds of nature and pattern & decoration. I keep a record of my visual experiences in sketchbooks and through photography. As I revisit these experiences in the studio, I incorporate my visual notetaking into more meditative works.
My favorite subjects include flowers and leaves as observed in my garden, along my favorite paths in the woods, and in botanical illustrations. I am fascinated with decorative patterns inspired by nature and applied to objects that enhance our daily lives, such as rugs and textiles.
